We've been touting the LS as the next big thing for the past few years and this month's Tech focus is further proof that this platform isn't going anywhere anytime soon. We are going to show you how to install MSD's Atomic fuel management system for the LS marketplace. This kit was designed to be a plug–and–play system that eliminates the OEM harness and computer that operates the engine!

When we stopped off at Ultimate Restorations of Norco, California, we took advantage of the opportunity to watch them wire up a '60 Impala for one of their customers. This shop has several installs under their belt and they have been the LS authority within the lowriding community. With LS style engines being the core focus of the company's services, the team at Ultimate made the install look that much easier. Much like the MSD videos, the install was done within a few hours, and was actually a pretty straightforward project. I was pleasantly surprised and it made me want to see an average car builder try their hand at handling one of these installs.

For the future, MSD is working on a system that will also be able to control any electronic computer. Keep their name in mind and keep checking with them, or wait to see us install the system in a future issue of LRM for more info. For now, follow along as Ultimate Restorations installs this kit onto an LS1.

Lucas Oil's "Very Cool" Tech Tip of the Month

Super Coolant

In this month's Lowrider Garage "Tech Tip of the month" series we reveal the significance of Lucas' High Performance Super Coolant. The Lucas Super Coolant has been scientifically formulated to provide the ultimate protection in automotive and racing cooling systems. It protects the entire system from rust, corrosion and electrolysis including aluminum.

Their unique formula prevents deposits that can cause overheating, and has been proven to reduce coolant temperatures up to 20°F. Lower cylinder head temperatures means advanced ignition and more horsepower.

Benefits

Lower cylinder head temps.
Allow advanced ignition, timing and more horsepower.
Reduce operating temperatures by up to 20°.
Prevents corrosion, electrolytes and deposits that cause leaks, overheating, and cooling system failures.

Dosage

For street vehicles requiring freeze protection, add one bottle to their 50/50 mix. For racing and high performance applications, add two bottles to straight water coolant for maximum temperature reduction.

One bottle treats 12-20 quarts of a 50/50 water antifreeze mix. Two bottles are required for straight water coolant. For passenger cars, light trucks and SUV's use every 30,000 miles. For racing applications use every race as needed.
