Robert "Bubba" Villanueva is not your average Lowrider. When he was younger, he knew that someday he would build something for the streets himself. Bubba has been a member of the Majestics Car Club in the Avondale, AZ., Chapter for the past six years. Looking to carve out a name for himself, Bubba decided that the best way to do that was to create something that could compete both in the streets, and at the shows.
Bubba started this mission by purchasing an '85 Cutlass for $900 from one of his friends. The Cutlass was taken to his backyard and he began working on it with his cousin Alex, and his friend Mando. Bubba was able to keep the cost down while building this vehicle, since all the work was done in his own backyard. Get this: he was able to build it with less than $7,000, and completed the build in less than 8 months!
The car needed enough firepower to tackle the street and show competitions, so the suspension received some much-needed extra attention. First, the frame was fully wrapped and the lower and upper A-Arms were reinforced and molded to be able to withstand the abuse of hopping. The setup was built by Mando, who used four BLVD Pumps, eight and 16-inch cylinders, one Solenoid, three dumps, and #8 Parker hoses. The setup is powered by 14 batteries and controlled by four switches. After the build was finished, the car was nicknamed "Cutthroat," since it started taking the heads off of its competition the first time it was shown - at the Las Vegas Super Show. Bubba and Mando took the competition to the streets of Las Vegas immediately after to continue their assault.
