Both panels are then fit one more time to ensure clearance all around the panel as well as show us which areas should be free of material build-up.

The material should hold the basic shape desired. A few areas may get out of alignment from the final desired shape, but these issues are minor and can be dealt with in the bodywork phase.

Additional coats of resin were added and now we can work on cutting out the speaker holes. After a bit of grinding, the bodywork can commence.

One nice wipe of body filler should allow you to shape the kicks just fine. A second might be necessary depending on how the kicks are sanded the first time. We recommend using 36-grit sandpaper to knock the filler down fast. Since none of the angles on this kick panel are large enough, a sanding block is useless here. For that same reason, it's important that you do not sand any particular area too deeply.

Notice how nicely the edges marry up and make a continuous flow. With both kick panels prepped, we can now send them to the upholsterer to work his magic and help get you back on the road with your new tunes filling the twilight cruise nights.

Before any body filler is applied the parts should be properly sanded. Here you'll notice that the piece looks clean enough to wrap, with the exception of the uneven areas left by the staples.

We're now ready to lay down the resin. After mixing the resin, apply it generously. The poly material will end up very thick if it's thoroughly saturated the first time around.
