1. After removing the headlight assemblies and the grille shell, lay the shell on its face on a soft-covered surface and, using a die grinder or hacksaw blade, cut the inner plastic grille work away, staying as close to the outer edge as possible.

2. Grind down the plastic lip around the grille shell to the chrome, but be careful not to cut into the chrome. This can be done by hand with 80-grit sandpaper.
