Thirty-five years of existence isn’t an easy task for a car club to accomplish but Low Conspiracy is one of the few clubs that has managed to do so. Realizing the magnitude of the occasion, the club wanted to commemorate it by holding an event that could match the momentous anniversary. To celebrate the grand occasion, the club and La Rosa Bella produced “A Summer Get Together” on August 21, 2011 at Swiss Park Bar and Grill in Newark, CA. Attendees would be treated to a parade of quality cars, food, and musical performances in honor of the club’s longevity.

Sometimes we can all become consumed with our cars. We spend hours and hundreds of dollars being obsessed with our own projects and it’s always a good idea to take a step back and realize that while our cars become our lives; life is bigger than a Lowrider. The majority of the spectators who walked through the Cicero Community Park in Cicero, Illinois, just outside of Chicago, saw the finest arrangements in custom vehicles. The show was a great display of Lowrider prowess but for Pesados Car Club, it was deeper than that. Their sixth annual car show had a double purpose as it was held also to remember one of the most dynamic car enthusiasts in the Chicago area. Known as “Diamond Girl,” Marcellina Toledo had been with the club since its inception and was clearly one of the club’s most dedicated members. In February 2011, Marcellina lost her life and left a void that the Lowrider culture in the area felt deeply. Pesados President, Efrain Moreno, decided to dedicate this event to “Diamond Girl.”

While some might mistake the Super Show in Vegas as our last big event of the year, our schedule does not slow down after that event one bit. In fact, the truth of the matter is that we get busier with several trade shows, all of which help us to bring you the latest in automotive innovation and design. One of the biggest shows that we have attended for years is the Specialty Equipment Market Association show, or as some of us refer to it, the Sema show. The four-day show has over 5,000 cars and this year, it drew more than 60,000 domestic and international buyers. This show isn’t open to the public, so we attend on your behalf to bring you anything and everything related to the latest happenings in the automotive world.

While death is a certainty within each of our lifetimes, it is no less easy to deal with when it happens. We all want more time here, and the loss of that opportunity is one that weighs heavy on many of us who have lost a loved one. While losing a member of your family is heartbreaking; losing a child is especially hard. As parents, we never want to have to bury our children. The act of doing so is every parent’s biggest fear and it is even tougher to deal with when we lose that child to a random violent act.

The name "Imperials" carries a lot of weight within our Lowrider culture, and just the mere mention of that word brings to mind the very car club that it represents. This long standing car club has a rich history full of some amazing people who have played an integral part in the club's revered legacy. With the recent and unfortunate loss of club veteran Jesse Valadez, owner of the iconic "Gypsy Rose," the Imperials Car Club has been lodged within the forefront of our hearts. Naturally, when I got the invitation to attend the 20th anniversary barbeque for the former Denver Chapter, I jumped at the chance to join in the festivities.

Luxurious C.C. did it again with their second annual show and shine, bringing together some of the hottest cars from the region this past July 2011. This year’s event was held in an even larger location than the club’s first Show and Shine, and it was also at full capacity. The only thing as hot as the cars on display was the weather, as this late July day proved to be the kickoff to a late summer season in B.C. All area car clubs and individual riders came out in full support, proving that Lowriding is alive and well in British Columbia. Robin “Munky” Toor kept the crowds cool with his ice cream truck while spinning some of the hottest beats as well.

September 2011 marked a milestone for Groupe Car Club, as their founding East Los Angeles Chapter celebrated 40 years of existence. The club wanted to make sure they recognized this important anniversary of their timeline, so they decided to commemorate the occasion by holding an enormous banquet at the Pomona Valley Mining Company Restaurant in Pomona, California. Current and past members came to pay their respects to this prestigious club; one that has consistently been among the top rated, trend-setting car clubs in Lowriding history!

Without an empty seat in the house, the 2011 Las Vegas Hop set the stage for the Super Show’s outdoor activities. Anticipation for this event is always at a fever pitch and with four different classes and five grand up for the taking; the stakes were high for all competitors involved.

The Central California haven of Merced, CA., served as the perfect backdrop for an incredible Lowrider show; the city’s third annual Merced Custom Auto Show, held back in August 2011 in Yosemite Lake. As they have in the previous three years, Flaco, Cimmaron, and Gabe organized this incredible event. This year, the trio added the promotional talents of Manuel Corbala, owner of “Strictly Business” to assist in making the event a success. The UC Merced chapter of Mecha also lent a hand by working the admissions gate on the day of the show. Budweiser, Universal Recycling, Bob’s Auto Paint and Equipment, and Pete’s Auto Body were the top sponsors for this year’s event.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, “Let’s Get Ready to Rumble!” The famous call from boxing announcer Michael Buffer could not be more fitting for one of Las Vegas’ seminal events; the Lowrider Las Vegas Super Show, which is annually, the most anticipated Lowrider show on the scene. People from around the world flock to the desert oasis for a weekend of gambling and booze, and somewhere in the middle of it all, our culture makes time for the biggest Lowrider Car show of the year. Returning back to Cashman Center at the edge of downtown Vegas, this year’s event boasted the largest turnout of the year with nearly 900 entries all parking in the center for a grab at the cash prizes. With approximately 100,000 square feet of indoor space and nearly triple that outdoors, the center was turned into a Lowrider city overnight!

Very few states have a reputation for warm weather throughout the year. Florida, particularly South Florida, can claim just that. In the location of beautiful women and flashy cars, the "Dirty South" as it's known, can boast of summer in the triple digits and winter in the 80's. Occasionally threatened by scattered storms, South Florida has been touted as the perfect weather location for years. When it came time for Majestics of Miami to hold their annual picnic, the choice was clear. Hundreds of vehicles rolled into the Historic Virginia Key Beach Park in Miami, as families gathered and barbecue grills were fired up in the name of celebration.
