The state of Colorado is notorious for its unpredictable weather patterns, but it is always consistent when it comes to successful Lowrider Tour events; this year's summer show was no different. As we landed on the runway at Denver International Airport, our pilot said the forecast for the weekend was set to include rain and inclement weather, but luckily, that forecast proved to be completely wrong. We did survive one Tornado Warning on Friday, but that didn't stop the dedicated attendees from bringing out over 400 of Denver's finest rides to the Saturday set up. In fact, other than the tornado scare, the weather was perfect all day on Saturday for the move-in and remained that way on Sunday for the show. |  If your going to walk the... The Denver Coliseum played host to this year's Lowrider Tour stop, an event that was sponsored by Lugz and Ruthless records. Thanks to plenty of promotion and a huge amount of radio airtime, the line to get into this one-day event was huge, as over 10,000 eager spectators came out to the Denver Coliseum to catch a glimpse of Denver's finest rides. The coliseum floor was whittled down to a mere 10 of the very best lowriders, each competing for the chance to qualify for Vegas. The rest of the indoor and outdoor areas boasted their fair share of quality custom lowriders as well.
This Midwest show is always a huge draw thanks to its centralized location, but the chance to qualify for the Vegas Super Show brought even more to the table as far as the competitors were concerned. In fact, cars were hauled in from all over the United States hoping to contribute to the event's success. Southern and Northern California, Louisville, Kentucky, Houston, Texas, New Mexico, Wyoming, and Las Vegas, Nevada, were just a few of the diverse places represented by competitors who were willing to make the long drive to Denver to show their support for the lowriding culture. A few cars stood out initially, for instance, local favorite Sam of Sam's Hydraulics stayed up day and night to get his car ready for the once a year event. The Ramos brothers brought out two clean bombs that stepped up the game for Denver. One of the bombs was a clean '48 Fleetline, the second was a '52 Chevy truck that showed just how low a lowrider could go, as it laid on its running boards.

KS107.5 FM hosted the Ruthless Records Stage, using their deejays to pump up the local crowd. MC Magic rocked a great set of his songs, and the Chicano rapper was well received by the Denver community. Magic did a great job opening the concert, as he left the crowd with a positive vibe and thirsty for the headliner Xzibit. Mr. X to the Z put on a great show as usual, running through a high energy set of his hits, "Front 2 Back," "X," and "Get Your Walk On." After his performance, the stage was set for the hottest action of the night; the highly anticipated bikini contest. Some of Denver's hottest females showed off their best assets, as they sent the crowd into a frenzy with their seductive moves. The crowd served as the ultimate judge for the contest, as they cheered loudly for the winning girl, who not only won the crowd's approval, she walked away with a $250 cash prize.
This amazing event showcased over 400 of the culture's most well-built rides, all hoping to earn a spot for themselves at the Las Vegas Super Show. Though we had a short weather scare, the Denver faithful came through as they do every year, with a whopping 10,000 spectators walking through the turnstiles on Sunday.
