Starting a Car Club

By Dustin Pedder

Starting a car club is not always the easiest thing to do. It's a good idea to search the Internet and see if any searches turn up car clubs that already exist with the name that you're interested in. The only official national "club registry" is through Lowrider Magazine. That might be the first place to check and see if a name has been taken. Once you choose a unique name, you'll want to register it as soon as possible.

To do this, simply fill out the form found on this website at www.lowridermagazine.com/clubregistry

It can be expensive to get T-shirts made and plaques designed and produced. It might be worth your time (and money) to look into other existing car clubs. You might just find one that fits what you're looking for in a club. Maybe you can start a chapter in your area of a particular club that's from another area, saving you from start-up fees. This may also give you the control that you're looking for in starting a new club, instead of being at the head of your own chapter.

If you still go through with starting your own club, find local t-shirt printing places near you who can maybe sell you shirts at wholesale prices and maybe even work out a good deal on printing your club logo. For chrome plaques, you might want to look at companies like Jagster (of Los Angeles, CA), LazerWerks.com, and PlaqueWerks.com.
