There comes a time in every man's life when family means more than his own individual wants and needs. For Pancho Torres of Aurora, Colorado, and a member of Midwest Customs, that time began shortly after having his three children. Growing up in Chihuahua, Mexico, right next to the border of Texas, Pancho spent most of younger years cruising in Lowriders and enjoying the culture. He and his wife, Elvira, set out to enrich their children's lives by instilling in them the same virtues and passions that was once the cornerstone of their heritage. As his children grew older, Pancho decided it was time to introduce them to the Lowrider lifestyle. Instead of working on his own vehicles, he decided to get something they all could enjoy; he went looking for a bicycle and found that his friend had stored the frame of a tricycle that had been sitting around. Pancho took the tricycle and began customizing it by adding his own flare and creativity. He enlisted Jagster out of Los Angeles, California, for help with the custom forks and fenders.

Pancho got busy hand-stitching all the upholstery and designing a rear extension with a sound system. Dean's Auto Body added House of Kolor Kandy Purple paint throughout the trike and Pancho's friend, Juan Ledezma, added 24 karat gold plating. Etching was also added to give the chrome and gold a little more flare. A rear section of the trailer was cut in the shape of the state of Chihuahua so his children would always remember their roots. The final step in completing the build was to add a quick-moving air ride that makes the trike lay low for show and rise up for riding. All three of his children enjoy every moment they can with their custom trike. "I take pride when we go to shows and my daughter, Karen, spends hours cleaning it," Pancho tells us. With the level of custom creativity the Torres family has been exposed to at such an early age, it's only a matter of time before they start their own individual creations. "Purple Passion" is truly the inspiration for the next generation of Lowriders, sparking knowledge and spreading the love of hard work and riding the Lowrider way.
