Born and raised in South Central Los Angeles, California, Lowrider enthusiast Big G has been a proud member of No Limit Car Club since 2004. "I have a '53 Chevy Bel Air, a '62 Impala and a few other cars but none of those are convertibles," says Big G with a hint of regret. Seeking to fill the void of not having a convertible Chevy in his collection, Big G decided to go on a search for the perfect one in which to enjoy the beautiful Cali weather. His original search was for a '64 Impala convertible but he ended up coming across this '63 rag pictured here and couldn't pass it up. "I bought the car from a friend of mine named Lorenzo who owns One Way Hydraulics. It was the next best thing I could find at the time, plus it was a convertible and that turns everyone's heads in California," Big G explains.

Lorenzo also proved to be a useful ally, as he introduced Big G to Luis Lemus of House of Pain; a man G felt would be the perfect builder to coordinate the entire build. "When Big G brought the car over it was a still a project," says Luis. "Big G picked the color scheme and told me to build him a clean ride and really gave me the freedom I needed to build the car." With Luis at the helm, Big G knew this convertible would be a more than worthy addition to his garage. "Big Lu (Luis) did a great job on the car," says Big G, who cruises in the trey every chance he gets. While he has gone to several shows he has never entered it into a show; he prefers instead to hit the streets of South Central with the top down. "Every Sunday I'm out at Crenshaw, Santa Fe, Imperial, Chris Burger, Western and Manchester," says G with pride. Keep an eye out too, as Big G is hoping to start working on his '53 Chevy in the near future.

Body/Paint: House of Pain took care of the bodywork and painting of the ragtop with a PPG blue water metallic.

Interior: House of Pain installed the stock interior kit.

Sound System: Luis at House of Pain installed the Alpine head unit along with two Niche Audio amps and Alpine 12-inch subwoofers.
