1958 Chevrolet Impala - Perfect Score
Lowrider Of The Year
The interior was done by Gary and Kurt Gardner, of ABC Upholstery, who went to the extreme without losing style, keeping a traditional bench seat as they re-skinned the interior with a touch of leather and snake skin. Chris also took his CNC knowledge and added custom billet accessories throughout the interior, from the door jambs to the dash. Chris used chrome on the billet parts to highlight the interior, which received a chrome tilt column, steering wheel, power windows, digital gauges, custom sound system, and other accessories, like the vintage air compass and a vintage cat eye used to lower the high beams when driving. A newer sound system replaced the old stock head unit and a mild sound system, which was included into the first-generation Impala.
With technology and retro fitting, Chris has shown the lowrider community that you can create a car of the year by extreme detail and innovative billet machining. By doing this, Chris brought us back to basic fundamentals, which usually is a lot more difficult when building a Lowrider of the Year. All the money and time won't build you one of these types of car show winners, but dedication and sacrifice will. Congratulations Chris Roark and the Oldies Car Club.
