Vehicle'58 Chevrolet Impala, "The Perfect Score"
City/StateVacaville, California
This month we're featuring Chris Roark's engine compartment on his latest immaculate '58 Chevy Impala, "The Perfect Score." This first-generation Impala is as pure as his old "Dark Side." His latest project took under a year because the engine compartment got knocked out in about three months from start to finish.
Chris used a '60 Impala 283 engine as the foundation of the engine compartment. The engine block was smoothed out and painted in a turquoise color to match the exterior of the vehicle. There were several custom parts made for it, including billet tags throughout the entire engine compartment. The engine itself received freeze plug covers, and every hole was covered with a custom plug. The intake was polished to accent the painted engine block. A one-of-a-kind air cleaner, by Walter Prosper, was used to allow the carburetor to breathe. Pinstriping was done throughout to accent the chrome plating.
Chris's newest Impala, in general, is where the lowrider industry needs to go when it comes down to detailing and quality. Chris made sure not to leave any parts untouched, whether they were custom-machine engraved, to rack up the points in the show circuit. Keep up the good work because we're interested to see what's next for this custom cruiser. With all of the detail that this vehicle features, we're surprised it hasn't won an Excellence Award at a Lowrider event.
