Andre "Dre Ghost" McGee is no stranger to the pages of Lowrider. In April '07, we showed you Dre's convertible Bel Air in From The Hood. We first spotted Andre's ride a year ago. The '57 convertible caught our attention as it featured a freshly built 383-c.i.d. small-block. Word on the street was that a new LS engine was going to replace the engine that we had featured; well, we had to see just how true that was. We caught up with Andre recently and he did more than just an engine swap. Actually, the entire car has been redone and the result is one custom '57 convertible.

Andre dropped off his '57 at Bowtie Connection in Artesia, California, where they stripped the car and bolted an LS-2 Corvette engine into the tri-five convertible. The aluminum engine, transmission and all of the accessories were purchased through Street and Performance. The engine compartment was a walk in the park as this Street and Performance crate engine is essentially a turnkey project. After wiring in a few components, this engine was ready to roll.

A combination of paint, chrome and engraving makes this engine compartment a winner. Andre has a goal and that's to one day have a full feature in Lowrider Magazine. There's a good chance that we will be featuring his custom vehicle in an upcoming issue. The new rumor is that he's now building a '58 Impala convertible to the same caliber as his '57. We don't doubt it.
