We caught up with Lorenzo Rodriguez of Victorville, California, at the Majestics Car Club picnic this last New Year's Day and we had to take a second look at the engine compartment in his '64 as it had it going on. Lorenzo has always loved cars and he's always adding to them to keep the flavor fresh. This time around, Lorenzo sent his car out and had them dress it up differently and remove the dated accessories.
First on the agenda was to ship out all of the billet parts to the chrome shop where they received a show finish. The ball-milled pieces included Zoops pulleys and brackets. Once it all came back, everything was bolted up in a few hours, giving the entire engine compartment a modern look without Lorenzo having to completely redo his vehicle.
A Matson radiator flowing the fluids through Cool-Flex hoses keeps the chrome-plated engine running and looking cool. Adding to the look is an Edelbrock EnduraShine carburetor and intake combination. An MSD distributor delivers spark to the small-block 350-c.i.d. that was transplanted in the original build.
Sometimes tricks like these allow people to freshen up their cars without going through major expenses. These are the tricks that we like to show as it keeps all of the players in the game. In some cases, you can even keep from having to redo a vehicle all over again. Keep up the good work, Lorenzo.
