Sometimes you need to experiment and try different things before you find what's right for you, or reinforce with certainty what you knew was right for you all along. Steven Godoy of Ontario, California, knows the feeling. "I've always been a lowrider at heart, but I never found the right car," he says. "So I went through the mini-truck phase and the new car ownership ordeal before going back to what I felt and knew was right-owning and restoring my own '66 Chevy Impala."
This 38-year-old air conditioning technician explains that he always favored the cool, aerodynamic body style of the '65 and '66 Impala, but getting his hands on the right one was another story. "I came across this '66 while surfing the Net," Steven relates. "The car is originally from Florida, with a one-owner title."
Steven could see that this Sunshine State '66 was the car that he'd been waiting for all along, the ride that would win him '60s Street Ride trophies after he restored its "original classic look." There was just one little problem. "The car happened to be in the background of another car's ad, and wasn't for sale," he remembers. No matter, now that he knew what he finally wanted, Steven wasn't about to give up easily. "After some negotiating, the car was shipped to me, and the rest is history."

Engine/Drivetrain: An '88 Corvette 350 V-8 with multiple chrome accessories (thanks to Victor's Plating in Pomona, California) was dropped in by Harry at Konnected Koncepts in Ontario and mated to a two-speed Powerglide transmission.
Body/Paint: Patrick at Konnected Koncepts had to remove a little "cancer" from the trunk of the formerly Eastern-based car before James Kay of CC&E in Ontario sprayed the custom pearl paint with flake on the roof.
Interior: Keith at Konnected Koncepts worked up the custom interior using the original pattern and added a fully detailed upholstered trunk.
Sound System: The Konnected Koncepts "krew" also equipped their client's car with a Sony CD player, two Hifonics amps and JL Audio speakers including a pair of 10-inch subs.
Suspension: Keith at Konnected Koncepts installed a six-switch airbag setup.Tires: P155/80-R13 Cornell
