There's no doubt that Jorge Lopez' '87 Chevy Monte Carlo LS is one sweet street cruiser, but why he calls the car "Incognito" is something of a mystery. This blue beauty is hardly the appropriate mode of transportation for "having one's identity concealed to avoid notice or attention." There's no disguising the fact that Jorge has made his presence felt in Dallas, Texas, area custom car circles.
After rolling for 13 years with Estilo Car Club, Jorge recently became founder and president of Intokablez Car Club. He also became a spokesman for the United Lowrider Association (ULA). "Not all lowriders are like what people make them out to be," Jorge told a local news outlet. "The ULA wants to do anything positive that we can do." The club and the ULA participate in charity events, support the arts, and organize an annual toy drive for needy children.
The ULA is made up of more than 300 Lone Star State lowriders. One of its members is legendary Joe Ruiz, who owns JB Kustoms in Dallas and JB Kustoms II in Duncanville, Texas (the city where Jorge hangs his hat). Joe laid down the immaculate candy royal blue paint with graphics that'll catch your eye day or night. Also playing a leading role in the project was Jorge's friend Gilbert Cortez, who contributed the engine compartment engraving among other things.
Incognito has been recognized with a number of awards, including First Place finishes at a Lowrider Magazine Tour show and at the Magnificos C.C. show in Houston, Texas. Best of all, Jorge says that he has a lowriding family. His four-year-old son loves to see the ranflas hop. "He calls all lowriders 'hoppits' because of the hydraulics," says the proud papa. Jorge's son has a lowriding future and his first car is going to be a royal blue '87 Monte Carlo. "This car's going to be his when he grows up," Jorge admits. That's one lucky kid, que no?
