Eddie's Bagged Custom Cab Will Leave You Breathless.
When it comes to Chevy pickup trucks of the mid '60s, Eddie Morales of Fontana, California, says that he practically grew up in one. "My father, Inocente, AKA "El Chan," bought one in the late '60s with a four-star camper on it," remembers Eddie. "We took Summer vacations to my parents' birthplaces in Jerez, Zacatecas, and Laredo, Texas. That truck never once broke down."
Now a professional truck driver for Stater Bros. markets, Eddie also says that his first dates as a high schooler were in pickup trucks at drive-ins. Obviously, pickup trucks hold loads of special memories for Eddie. This particular truck, a '64 Chevy C-10 Custom Cab was originally acquired as a work truck to clean up the backyard, but you know how that goes. Once the yard was clean, Eddie decided to give the truck "the justice that it deserved."
Once committed, it wasn't long before Eddie yanked out the seat, bumpers, windows, moldings and everything else, and began making it over with help from pros like Miguel and "Nacho" at Advantage Paint in Bloomington, California, and "Big Joe" at MJB Plating in Rialto, California. Eddie says that he kept Big Joe busy.
Although Eddie received invaluable assistance from these talented craftsmen, along with the others mentioned in the Tech Specs, he did do some of the work on his truck himself. For one thing, he equipped the cab with a Panasonic-based sound system featuring custom 120-watt speakers mounted in the kick panels. Actually, the sound system must be for the benefit of his family and friends because, as Eddie tells it, "These trucks all have a certain 'hum' that comes from the rearend and transmission. For me, that's music to my ears."
