Back in the early 1970s, there was a strong, independent African American femme fatale cinema character by the name of Foxy Brown who showcased her sexiness when battling villains. As an ode to this brash and now legendary icon, Mark Luna of Santa Fe Springs, California, built this super-cool and clean '63 Chevy Impala that flies the SouthSide Car Club plaque. Mark, AKA the "Glass Man," is no stranger to vintage beauties such as his bowtie; the man is always busy with his mobile automotive glass business, giving his customers one-on-one service when installing glass on all sorts of rides.
A fan of the '60s Chevy, Mark chose the '63 Impala for his lowrider of choice and enlisted many of the best to help build the impressive low-low. "The car was originally purchased from Oishi of House of Lowriders," mentions Mark. "At the time, Oishi said that he had purchased the car from a movie studio. The car had been in several movies. One of the most popular movies and the last it was featured in was Blood in Blood Out."
The '63 was in sorry shape; spray-paint and broken windows made the look very tired. Then there were the camera mounts that were welded to the car's chassis! "The car was blue with a white interior and it even had a scrape plate welded to the center of the frame," adds Mark. It was approximately two years for the car to see its new skin, going from Hollywood funky to boulevard fresh. Future plans include adding seat belts so Mark and wife Rasheeda's baby daughter Alexxi can ride along with them in her baby chair.
