We've all seen them... those cars out in the middle of nowhere just rusting away, full of shotgun pellets from some really bad hunters, or being used for target practice by some eager yet unappreciative kid. This car was one such vehicle sitting in the woods on Ray Trujillo's grandmother's land in Arizona. It was discovered along with a few other cars, of which all but this one had been stolen off of the property. Most of the time these cars get looked at and written off as too far gone, which was probably the case for this 1960 Chevrolet Impala, but Ray decided to have a go at making it "Just My Style."
A few phone calls and $50 later, Ray had his friend Jody Baca help him tow the badly wounded car home. Anyone who's seen these type of cars knows what kind of shape they can be in and this one was no exception with a host of shotgun holes and dents in the body. By some miracle of the car gods, the front and rear windshields were intact, but the frame was beyond repair.
Ray's been in the game with La Familia C.C. for quite some time, since 1977 to be exact, and started out building bicycles before making the gradual move to cars. In that time, he moved up the ranks in the club to president, but is currently on the board of directors and enjoys driving around in Just My Style with his wife, Cathy, and family. It looks like the five-year journey for Ray was a style-building experience that everyone can enjoy.
