This year marked the return of the Kentucky Southern Showdown, held at the Louisville Waterfront Park with the iconic Ohio River as a backdrop. The prestigious venue of this year's show brought out lowriders from the surrounding areas in droves. The Southern Showdown featured over 250 cars throughout the weekend and sponsors included the likes of Cool Cars, CCE Hydraulics, Spinellis, Graphic Disorder, KP concepts, MECA, and T-shirt Chris. These sponsors made the event possible, and it is safe to say that without their commitment, the event could have never happened.
Some of the clubs used Louisville as a meeting point, much like the Rollerz Only did, as they had members from mid-Kentucky, Tennessee, and even the Chicago chapter came out. The Chicago chapter was also responsible for bringing over 150 pounds of meat to cook on the grill. Other lowriders made the cruise from Indiana, while others, like Vince of Low4Life, rolled in from Ohio. Some of the local clubs who attended to support the event included USO, Individuals, Backyard Bangers, Relentless and Drop Mob.
As we mentioned, some individuals were rewarded for their efforts, much like Manny from New York, who won best hydraulics, and was spotted for a future feature in LRM. Another surprise was Alex and his'66 Buick Riviera that almost didn't make it.
As most people know it takes a lot of money to put on events and without the regional support for events like the Showdown, it would be impossible for our industry to grow. We would like to thank Bryan From CCE for welcomming us out to his event and we look forward to next year's show!
