Established five years ago, ChevyBombs.com is considered to be the premier online resource for anything related to the Bomb subculture. The site hosts a message board that has become an online community for Bomb enthusiasts. Members can use the message boards to buy/sell, trade, or find highly sought after parts or automobiles. The message board members are a tight-knit group, so every year since the site's inception; chevybombs.com's owners host a picnic, designed so that everyone can get away from the computer and actually hang out with each other for an afternoon.
Golden Park in Downey, California was the designated meeting place on a beautiful Saturday this past July, 2010. The park's parking lot became ground zero for Bomb enthusiast as the sound of split manifolds filled the air and Bombs from all over California zoomed in to fill the available parking spaces.
Pachuco Car Club from Northern California, Latin Bombas from Oxnard California, Old Memories, Duke's, HB Gabachos, and Vintage Bombs were some of the clubs that came out to this great event. The Tovar Brothers and Mike Ramos were also on hand at the picnic checking out the rides. Some of the Bomb owners had parts for sale, and there was also a taco man selling food for those hungry on this beautiful afternoon.
The picnic lasted through the afternoon and as everyone headed home, they rushed back to their computers to post photos from the picnic. There is talk that the picnic might blossom into more than a once-a-year event thanks to the overwhelming success of this year's picnic.
