A typical June day in Southern California is ideal for an outdoor car show. The San Fernando Valley chapter of Oldies Car Club picked June 27th of this year to host a car show in Sylmar, California, and they couldn't have picked a better day.
Over 500 entries showed up to the Sylmar Independent Baseball League's complex, ready to compete for bragging rights and the chance to take home a trophy. Northern, Central, and Southern California regions were well represented by individual car owners, as well as clubs like New Exposure, Low Lifes, Premier, La Gente, UCE, Majestics, and Good Times. Oldies chapters came out to support the event as well. This show was filled with Bombs, Traditional Lowriders, Lowrider Bicycles, and Harley-Davidson motorcycles; yes, there was definitely something for everyone at this great event!
Oldies made sure to have plenty of food and drinks on hand to keep the show attendees from going thirsty and hungry. There were also vendors at the show like Hernan's Custom Engraving, and Jagster Engineering Group, displaying and selling their custom work while meeting with current and potential customers. If you were in need of a hat to keep the sun out of your eyes, or a new T-shirt to take home, the show vendors definitely had what you were looking for.
Music and live entertainment kept the show mood upbeat. The hopping contest took place at high noon on one of the many baseball fields, and the crowd watched Big John of Good Times Car Club take home the cash and the bragging rights.
The show concluded with the trophy presentations and many Lowriders left with hardware in hand. Oldies would like to thank their sponsors, and all who supported the show. We imagine that since the show was so successful this year, it will also be a success next year!
