Houston

The heat is on when the Evolution Tour hits H-town.

When it was time to cover the Lowrider Magazine Evolution Tour stop in Houston, Texas, I was excited to go back home to see my friends and family. Nothing had really changed since I left Houston for Southern California; the weather still sucks and it's humid and hot as hell. The main reason to come back to H-town was to cover one of the biggest shows in Houston history with tons of show-quality cars and scandalously hot women.

With Houston being their hometown, Tour sponsor Quaker State made sure that they were well represented by giving away tons of motor oil and signing people to win their one-of-a-kind jacket. Also showing strong representation were fellow Tour sponsors Nitto Tires, the U.S. Army, Exide Batteries, CCE Hydraulics, Player Wire Wheels and Limited Alloy Wheels, all on hand to give out goodie bags that included product samples and useful information.

On Saturday, the majority of the cars were moved in. In fact, the LRM staff was so overwhelmed that no one got a chance to take a lunch break. More than 400 cars needed to get inside of the Reliant Arena to be on display. By 10 a.m. Sunday morning, there were people already lining up for one of the biggest shows to hit Houston since, well, last year's LRM Tour event. The response by the public was tremendous as thousands of people showed up for the Lowrider Tour party. As the people walked in, they were greeted by some of the nicest custom lowriders in the nation and the beats were being sent out via satellite through 104.9 House Party radio.

Although there was more than enough eye candy at the show, mainly custom lowriders (check the winners' list for some of the hottest in the house) but also plenty of pretty females, there was also an earful coming from the stage. With major players performing, including Lil' Rob, NB Ridaz, Gemini and Houston's own Chingo Bling and Swisha House, the crowd was rocked with thousands of people singing and dancing to the rhymes. Towards the end of the day the Ying Yang Twins tore up the stage and got the crowd ready for the world famous $500 Bikini Contest, where the hottest women showed what H-town hotties had to offer. In the end, the lovely Annie took home the cash and the right to brag about being the hottest girl (for now) in Texas.

When it was time to wrap up after the show was over, I got to see a lot of familiar faces and people whom I had not seen for a while. I also noticed the expressions of the people going home happy and anxious for our next Texas Tour stop in San Antonio. So if you're curious and haven't experienced the larger than life spectacle of an LRM Tour show, make sure that you plan to attend the next show in a city near you.
