The 2003 Legends Tour Super Show in Las Vegas, Nevada, features the best low show cars in the country, but the event also includes a hydraulics "showdown" pitting the top hoppers and dancers in the sport. As it turned out, the 2003 Hop competition was the best such event to date and it could not have been put together without the help of sponsor CCE Hydraulics.
Even though the Super Show was held in early October, the warm "Indian summer" weather was the perfect setting for a Hop featuring a field of more than 40 of the nation's top competitors. Competitors came from all over the US; from as far east as New York, as far south as Texas and as far north as Michigan.
During the competition, there was a brief time-out in order to award the Wayne Costa Memorial Award, which pays tribute to street truck dancer Wayne Costa and girlfriend Leslie Bowen, who were involved in a tragic fatal accident which occurred on their way home after attending one of our Tour events a few years ago. This year the award was given to T&D Customs, who attended several Tour events and scored several points throughout the season with their '89 Chevy S-10.
The 2003 Super Show Hop proved to be a worthy grand finale to a memorable Tour as it featured the best of the best. In fact, several records were broken or tied throughout the competition.
