Las Vegas Supershow 2001

Without these sponsors, a tour and show of this magnitude would not be possible. We wish to thank all of these fine companies for their support of the Lowrider Movement. These sponsors really contributed more than ever to making the Tour a huge success. Pennzoil's two-for-one promotion was again a big hit and allowed more gente to enjoy all of the fun.

Pennzoil also sponsored the Pennzoil Radical Road Show, which featured the Pennzoil '63 Chevy Impala radical dancer and the Suzuki Sidekick that shook, hopped and rocked at all of our events! Gumout sponsored the highly popular '61 Impala Giveaway Car Sweepstakes. The Gumout *61 was won at the Las Vegas Super Show by 18-year-old Alfonso Castillo of San Francisco, California. Gumout also gave away T-shirts and other goodies throughout the year. Black Magic sponsored the prestigious Best in Shine award, which was given to the owner of the most impressive paint job and shine at all of our Tour stops. Black Magic also gave away a special souvenir cup to all Super Show entries. Longtime sponsor Dayton Wire Wheels gave away a set of wheels throughout our tour. That's 15 free sets of Daytons! >From Coast to Coast, Dayton Wire Wheels made some lucky raffle ticket holders very happy indeed.

New sponsor Nitto Tire gave away a set of their quality tires to a lucky winner on the second half of the Boulevard Tour when they became sponsors. Kenwood USA got into the act with their awesome dB Drags that matched up vehicles for a side-by-side competition of booming sound-off action. They also brought out their quality vehicles equipped with their quality Kenwood products for all to enjoy.

CCE and ShowTime Hydraulics sponsored the fantastic hydraulics competitions and the prestigious Hydraulic World Championships that honor the top hydraulic competitors. CCE and ShowTime also built some awesome vehicles that put on a real show throughout the year. Another sponsor who has been there since the beginning is Thump Records who keeps us all bumping and grinding to the best music that you can find. No matter what your cruising style, Thump Records have the tunes for you. It all came together on October 8 when the Cashman Field Center again became the place to be for a slice of lowrider heaven. For the second consecutive year, this facility came alive with lowrider vehicles from all over Aztln and beyond. When move-in began on Friday there were riders from Texas, New Mexico, Illinois, California, Nevada, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, Mexico and Japan, all prepared to get a jump on the competition. With every year that passes, the Lowrider Movement seems to reach more people and this year was no exception. The quality of vehicles entered also seems to be reaching to new heights. As the show began to take its form, it was quickly evident that we had one fantastic showing of vehicles on hand.

By the end of Saturday's move-in, the indoor showroom was just about full of the best of the best. And by Sunday morning, the outdoor section of the show was full of proud owners displaying their fine creations of every color and style. Competitors anxiously prepared their vehicles as the spectators began to line up for entry to the show. When the complete move-in process was finished, the show was on. Everyone who entered a vehicle in the show would agree that the move-in was much improved over last year and props go out to the entire Go-Lo Entertainment crew for their exhaustive efforts to make the show as enjoyable as possible for the entrants and public alike. By 10 a.m., the crowd was allowed to flow into the grounds and the festivities began. Mariachi Las Vegas strolled about the outdoors and indoors playing their soulful renditions of mariachi classics. Many spectators were overtaken by emotion and let out some gritos of pride.

Others felt the music and broke into some folklorico dance steps much to the delight of those who watched. It was a truly nice touch to have these great mariachis on hand to kick off the day in style. Soon the long lines of people made it into the show and the party was on. Aisle after aisle of the facility was full of people taking in all of the action with more than 20,000 fans enjoying the festivities. The ever-evolving lowrider has a keen eye for quality and detail, and at this level of competition they go all out to show their best efforts. It does not matter what category you compete in; you have to do your homework to win at this level. At the highest level of competition, we have our Lowrider of the Year Sweepstakes winners. In the Car Sweepstakes category, John Kennedy's convertible '64 Impala, 'SouthSide Player," took home First Place for SouthSide Car Club. John and his A-team crew worked ferociously to prep this unbelievable lowrider for show time
