This year's Las Vegas Super Show came and went in the blink of an eye. Easily the most highly anticipated show of the year because of its high stakes and bragging rights, this year's show surpassed the quality and quantity of cars from years past. This happens every year, as more and more quality cars and incredible builds come to show their stuff alongside lowriding's best and brightest. For this reason alone, the Vegas Super Show always lives up to the hype, and continues to grow each year. In the spirit of that growth, and with the new show schedules going up, I would like to discuss some issues we have had with the show and offer some solutions that will benefit everybody.

We continue to have tremendous participation in Vegas, and out of the 800 cars that are exhibited at this annual show, 600 cars are always displayed on the outside. While both spots are highly coveted, the point I'd like to make is that we can't continue to have the same cars inside and the same cars outside. Obviously, everybody would love to have a prime indoor spot to display, but the problem we are running into is that we have some cars outside which deserve their chance of being inside given their build quality, and some cars inside that are amazing but haven't had any significant changes or additions for the past few shows. This disparity is a problem that will change this year. I think everyone deserves a fair share to be inside the main hall, but only if the quality of their ride is up to par. We all have to come together and accept this proposed resolution of sharing the indoor space with others so that they can also experience the high of being indoors, even just once, at the Super Show.

We will be diligent in determining placement during the application process. Large car clubs usually show their favorite or best allotment of cars inside every year, with the remainder of their rides outside and while it has to pain them that they can't all be inside to show together; this is the way of the land as space is always limited. Lowrider has tried to get other venues with more room inside but we all know that the name Lowrider carries baggage because of a few past incidents of crowd misbehavior. That said, in order to give some fairness to the indoor space, we have implemented a change. From now on, anyone who has shown at the Super Show for three (3) years with no major changes will only be allowed to show outside, if they choose to participate in the Super Show. It's time to let others who deserve it have a chance to enjoy a turn, too. There are a good 50 cars that are outside every year that should be displayed indoors, and vice versa for that matter, too. I know that there are those who feel or believe that there is favoritism or politics involved, and we want things to be fair for everybody.

The second problem and change this year will be in the way applications are sent and received. We are not talking about applications that are usually late; we are talking about all applications brought in that don't have photos attached. It is hard enough to read the applications, let alone choose if a build warrants an inside or outside space, but without photos, choosing is impossible. From now on, we require everyone to submit one sideways-angled picture to go along with every application. Just because a ride or a builder's name carries weight, it doesn't mean that you are exempt from having to submit a photo for consideration, no matter who you are, or how well-known your car is. Take the time to add the picture to your app because we actually go over all 800 every year, and this process needs to be as fair and efficient as possible as the clock is ticking on us, too.

One other change that must happen, are restrictions in the amounts of suggested 20x20 display spots. Major cars going for sweepstakes and clubs showing in force will only be allowed one (1) each 20 x 20 Turntable/Jack stand display. I am sure there will be some exceptions to this soon-to-be rule, as we are still ironing out the details of the logistics of this proposed change. Again, we would love to not have to make this change, but we have had 40 or so 20x20 spaces made available previously, and the space that takes could have allowed 20 more cars to be inside, if those spaces were made available. Once we have the meeting and situate everything with the judges involved and the rules committee, there will be a letter explaining these changes in the magazine. I hate the mess that happens every year that Yolanda and Texas Ed have to deal with in adjusting and juggling 300 cars to fit inside and then when I get involved to help, sometimes it makes it worse. That said, I will put my name out there as being fully involved in dealing with this situation and if you want to point the finger at someone, that someone will be me. We need fairness at this show, and I can assure you that these changes are in the best interests of all involved as we continue to grow the Super Show. We as car customizers/ exhibitors within this competitive sport have to bow out gracefully when we have shown enough, and allow room for others by taking a 10x20 spot instead. I speak from personal experience; I showed a car a great while back and the crowd was pretty deep and circled around it. The second year I showed the car, that crowd was half the size and many of you top builders know that feeling. We are all equal, maybe not in overall quality, but only the best deserve to be inside and the inside of the show just cannot look the same as it has in the past four or five years. Everybody needs to step it up, and we need new blood and new colors.

I realize these proposed changes might ruffle a few feathers, but there's no need to panic or rush to send me complaint emails. I am on everyone's side here; I just want all of us to be fair, that's all. Someone has to step in and remove any and all thoughts of politics and favoritism, which we will prove doesn't exist with these changes. With more room and photos attached to the applications, there will be no more mistakes when choosing who deserves to be inside.

With respect to all, along with some fairness, we can share the spotlight.
