1957 Chevy Bel Air Convertible - From The Hood

The Department Dedicated To The Hottest Engine Compartments

Each month in "From the Hood" we bring you one of the sport's hottest-looking engine compartments. This section highlights an engine that's been customized and hooked up with performance parts as well as cosmetic components. From The Hood is broken down to include performance parts, pulleys and brackets, engine compartments, induction and ignition systems.

This month, we feature "The Blueprint," Dre Ghost's '57 Chevy Bel Air convertible. Dre's '57 is truly from the "hood" of North Las Vegas, Nevada, and puts it down for Street Players C.C. We spotted Dre's ride while out cruising the streets of North Las Vegas. The '57 convertible caught our attention, so Dre agreed to show us what's under his hood, a freshly built 383-c.i.d. small-block.

The engine was dropped in and dressed up by Dre and fellow Street Player "Dillio." The one-month project went smoothly, as they would only work on it on their spare time. The 50-year-old ride looks as good as ever, and the engine was painted to match the exterior and dressed up with today's modern accessories.

We definitely have to thank Dre Ghost for showing us around his hood. The word on the street is that a new LS engine is going to replace this 383. If so, we'll have to see how that engine looks once it's done. If you feel that you have an engine worthy of our From The Hood section, email us at saul.vargas@primedia.com.
